Are you willing to make a change?

AIESEC UQ’s upcoming event, Ignorance 2 Impact – Creating Sustainable Futures, provides an environment for Brisbane’s top university students as well as concerned members of the Brisbane community to learn about and discuss the current state of environmental and social issues in Australia and around the world.
The seminar will be followed by a networking event for passionate delegates to meet and discuss with representatives from different companies after the seminar. There will be more than 15 companies attending the networking event, offering great opportunities to people to share their opinions directly with these corporates. Furthermore, opportunities to work overseas (voluntary positions) will be presented at the event.
We will have 5 speakers during the event:
Vice-Chancellor of UQ           Paul Greenfield
Geodynamics                          Dr Doone Wyborn
Oxfam                                    Ms. Angela Ballard
University of Queensland       Dr Andrew Griffiths
Carpets for Communities        Beata Majewska
Donations to the event will be given to Carpets for Communities (CFC) – a charity organization aiming to provide long term income to empower women in Cambodia to reduce the cycle of poverty.
For further information about CFC go to http://www.carpetsforcommunities.org/

Join us! Get involved in a musical theatrical journey of sound and sight into the stories of youth in an urban hip hop environment. A dancing, rhyming, theatrical journey into urban hip hop culture…

So you think you can rhyme? Dance? Sing? Organise? Make sets? Costumes? Join in the making of a cross-cultural theatrical musical – a ‘Hiphopera’.

Drawn from the stories of war and peace, land and city, from the lives of immigrants and refugees, indigenous and non-indigenous, and from all levels of ability comes this heavy visual journey into hip hop culture. Bling Bang is supported by internationally renowned music and theatre directors & choreographers, to be performed at The Powerhouse, New Farm, in October 2009.

To be part of this, and to audition, Contact Sam: sam.tracy@accessarts.org.au or phone (07) 3258 6200.

Visible Ink Youth Space is hosting a Barefoot Party to raise money for The Oaktree Foundation and help fight world poverty. And we want YOU to be there. Being barefoot is a symbol of poverty. Living in a country where we have so much it’s easy to take the basics for granted and not realise what poverty means for people. Going barefoot is about acknowledging poverty and doing something about it.
