National Youth Week
Brisbane City Council has a long history of celebrating National Youth Week and the contribution young people make to Brisbane everyday. Below is a quick snapshot of the past few years. If you’d like to get involved in National Youth Week 2012, just follow this link.
National Youth Week 2011
In 2011 we had a launch event in Queen St Mall that showcased emerging young talent in exciting spaces dotted throughout the mall and squares, including The Medics, Tim Nelson and the Cub Scouts, a plethora of performers, roving circus acts, theatre groups and the odd surprise flashmob throughout the night.
We also had Visual Arts like the plastic-fantastic work of Richard Stride who does a mash-up of building blocks. Community stalls also participated from community organisations such as Beyond Blue and Deaf Services Queensland – all available to discuss and present important information for young people.
We saw Healthy & Active demonstrations of Yoga, Freestyle Football and sports for young people with disabilities as demonstrated by Sporting Wheelies.
You can find a full line up of the event here.
