It Starts At Home

The common perception of who cares about extreme poverty is outdated and inaccurate. At the Oaktree Foundation, we’ve just launched a new campaign to try to change it.

We know that Australians can’t accept a world where extreme poverty exists, and thousands are taking action in their own lives to help end it.

They might donate, volunteer, fundraise or run a social business; they’re part of a global effort that has halved poverty in the last twenty years.

Over the coming months we will be collecting stories from these Australians. Each story will be delivered in a personal and creative manner through a variety of mediums that will be accessible to the public.

Stories will come from a diverse cross-section of the public. We want to show the Australian people the significant contributions individuals are making at home to end poverty. Ending global poverty starts at home, but it does not end there.

It Starts At Home will be celebrating its Queensland Launch at Laruche, in Fortitude Valley, on the 19th of October. We will be discussing how you can contribute your story to It Starts At Home and how the campaign plans to overcome the perception of the movement to end poverty.
