Here are links to the current draft of all the event documents as PDF files. Figured it was easier that sending a long list of files attached to an email that might clog up everyone’s in boxes. People can’t access this area of the website with out the web link, so please don’t share it around!

Fascinate Writing Competition!

Mount Gravatt PCYC in association with the Garden City Library, the Local Writers Group and Year 11 students from Macgregor State High School present the “Fascinate” writers competition for the 6th year running.
“Fascinate” Young Writers Festival is a FREE opportunity for all young people aged 8-18 to use their creativity to produce a piece of original writing in the categories: poetry or short story.
Students can enter in three age groups
- Junior 8 -11 years of age;
- Middle School 12 – 14 years of age and,
- Seniors 15-18.
Prizes will be awarded to the best story in each category and will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Garden City Library.
All entries accepted for submission will be placed in a booklet and made available for all entrants!
Entries for “Fascinate” close on the 10th June 2011.

Backbone Bounce Advisory Group Now Recruiting!

BOUNCE – an advisory group of artists aged 20 – 26 years that will regularly meet to advise Backbone’s Artistic Director, Andrew Cory on relevant issues, inspirations and aspirations concerning the young and emerging professional artists and their arts practice. Bounce is created to ensure that Backbone has a dedicated platform where young professional artists can directly inform the companies programming and philosophy.
WHO ARE WE?
Backbone is one of Queensland’s leading Youth Theatre companies regularly partnering with the state’s flagship arts companies such as Opera Queensland, Queensland Theatre Company, Brisbane Powerhouse. Backbone is recognized by the broader arts community and government as a leading youth arts innovator and performance creator.
Backbone is about the future! Backbone is about creativity! It is the place where the creative and artistic aspirations of a young generation of performers, theatre makers and cultural producers is expressed and realized. We are inspired by the new ways in which young people engage with the idea of performance and theatre, the cutting edge ideas and reimagining of the potential of theatre/performance/art in the 21st century!
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
The Bounce team will be made up of young and emerging professional artists and artsworkers (20‐26 yrs) in the fields of theatre, performance, new media, design, music and visual arts who resonate with the company’s goal of creating contemporary, relevant and innovative performance works. As part of BOUNCE you will meet approximately once every 2 monthes during office hours to discuss the artistic program and generally talk about the state of the current artistic landscape in not only in Brisbane but from around the world. Your input will help inform Backbone’s artistic agenda and program.
WHAT YOU GET:
As a member of Bounce you will have a direct input into Backbone’s programming and be able to provide immediate feedback on how the company works and what you would like us to be doing. You will be connected to other exciting and emerging artists in the Bounce group and you will be profiled on our website. Ultimately it will be about sharing ideas and be a space for critical discussion. As a member of Bounce you will also have access to Backbone as a mentor and a company that can support your career development.
